Oklahoma City-based artist Kris Kanaly hopped into the Spy Van and crafted an original piece of art during Live on the Plaza last month.

Kanaly has a really interesting family history. His family owned an art gallery for almost 100 years.

And all of that happened in Oklahoma (it unfortunately closed last year).

We met up with Kanaly inside DNA Gallery and had Derek and Kurt of The Pretty Black Chains help out with some original music for an interview. Kanlay talked about his interest in street art and growing up with skater culture.

If you aren’t doing anything Friday then come out to the latest Live on the Plaza for a lot of free music and fun.

Update:

Kris Kanaly is responsible for painting the outside of Wayne Coyne’s new art gallery.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around this fact.

Oklahoma City-native singer/songwriter Audra Mae is related to Judy Garland.

Garland is Mae’s great aunt.

But even greater than that is Mae’s voice.

This song is from her upcoming album.

Here’s Mae’s song on Vimeo if that’s your thing.

Thanks to the good people at Tree & Leaf Clothing, the Spy Van is featured on a nifty article of clothing.
