The holidays can be a bummer but not when Seattle’s Dude York makes things this fun. We loved having the band hope in the van to share what is sure to became a new holiday classic.

Check out the band’s new Christmas record here.

We loved having BJ Barham jump into the van after soundchecking with his well-seasoned American Aquarium bandmates. We figured he’d play something new but not this new.

“I Gave Up The Drinking (Before She Gave Up On Me)” was merely two days old when this video was filmed. That might be a record for youngest song to make it in the van.

Charley Crockett and his band are outta Texas but they’re clearly welcome back any time. We caught word of Crockett’s stellar live show after he hit the road with the Turnpike Troubadours.

Before a set at the Blue Door, Crockett and Co. played a song so new that you can only find it here. Give it a watch.

We loved hanging out with Sabrina Ellis and Andrew Cashen so much that we couldn’t wait to have them back in the van. You saw them last in our Sweet Spirit episode but now they’re back with A Giant Dog’s harder rock edge.

Loved hearing a brand new song (above) and another (below) off of the band’s Merge Records debut.

Rain put a damper on Norman Music Festival’s afternoon performances so we decided to throw a concert celebration with Austin’s biggest party band. Sweet Spirit thrilled us with two songs before the rain subsided, and they rocked the festival’s main stage.

Party on.

We loved hanging out with Dylan and hearing this beautiful track from “Cautionary Tale.”

You have to check out that 2016 gem.

Here’s to a year of new sessions in 2017.

Check back every month for a brand new episode

BUHU strolled into town and thought they were doing a live session inside of The Spy.

In a rush of creativity, the Austin-based band created an impromptu acoustic version of a brand new song. We loved the energy and the band’s super fun personality.

Don’t miss them the next time BUHU is in town.

This might be one of our favorite sessions yet.

Okie John Moreland recently named Aaron Lee Tasjan as one of his favorite working songwriters and Bonnie Whitmore joined to sweeten the deal.

We loved how it turned out and enjoyed this rendition of “Lucinda’s Room” from Tasjan’s excellent 2015 album “In the Blazes.”
